Levi Strauss Raises 2026 Outlook as Premium Denim Demand Remains Strong

1. Levi Strauss Upgrades Annual Forecast Following Strong Quarterly Performance

Levi Strauss & Co. has raised its financial outlook for 2026 after reporting stronger-than-expected quarterly results, signaling that consumer demand for premium denim and casual apparel remains resilient despite ongoing economic uncertainty.

According to Reuters, the iconic denim manufacturer now expects annual net sales to grow between 7% and 7.5%, up from its previous forecast of 5.5% to 6.5%. The company also increased its adjusted earnings outlook, reflecting confidence in continued consumer spending and the strength of its premium product portfolio.

During the second quarter, Levi Strauss reported revenue of $1.56 billion, representing an 8% year-over-year increase and surpassing Wall Street expectations. The company’s adjusted earnings also exceeded analysts’ estimates, supported by healthy sales across multiple regions and product categories.

Despite the improved financial outlook, Levi Strauss shares fell about 5% in after-hours trading. Investors appeared cautious because the midpoint of the company’s profit forecast came in slightly below some market expectations, even as overall business performance remained strong.

Chief Executive Michelle Gass said the company continues to benefit from strong consumer interest in premium denim while successfully expanding beyond its traditional jeans business. She noted that Levi Strauss is attracting younger shoppers and broadening its appeal through new product offerings and fashion-focused collections.

The latest guidance marks the second time this year that the company has raised its annual forecast, highlighting confidence in its long-term growth strategy despite persistent inflation, shifting consumer spending habits, and global economic challenges.

2. Premium Products and Direct Sales Continue Driving Growth

Levi Strauss’ latest results reflect the success of its strategy to diversify beyond its traditional denim business while strengthening direct relationships with consumers.

Reuters reported that the company’s direct-to-consumer (DTC) business now accounts for approximately half of total revenue, with sales through company-owned stores and e-commerce channels continuing to outperform wholesale operations. Direct sales increased 11% during the quarter, supported by strong online demand and improved retail performance.

One of the strongest-performing product categories has been the company’s new Blue Tab premium denim collection. Featuring jeans priced at nearly $300, the line has gained traction among affluent consumers, particularly younger shoppers seeking premium fashion products. CEO Michelle Gass said the collection demonstrates Levi Strauss’ ability to compete within higher-end segments of the apparel market.

The company also reported encouraging growth outside its traditional denim business. Sales of women’s apparel increased 11%, while tops, including shirts, sweaters, and blouses, posted solid gains as Levi Strauss continues expanding into broader lifestyle categories.

Regional performance remained strong across major markets. Sales in the Americas rose 9%, Asia recorded 10% growth, and Europe delivered a 4% increase despite softer consumer spending in several countries. The balanced geographic performance helped offset ongoing macroeconomic uncertainty affecting the global retail sector.

Executives acknowledged that rising household expenses, including higher grocery and fuel prices, continue to pressure many middle-income consumers. However, the company believes its broad product portfolio enables it to serve customers across multiple price points while maintaining pricing power in its premium collections.

3. Long-Term Strategy Focuses on Innovation and Global Expansion

Levi Strauss’ latest results reinforce the company’s broader strategy of transforming itself from a traditional denim manufacturer into a diversified global lifestyle brand.

Reuters reported that management remains focused on expanding premium offerings, investing in digital commerce, and increasing profitability through higher-margin direct sales. The company also announced a 14% increase in its quarterly dividend, reflecting confidence in its financial position and future cash generation.

Beyond product innovation, Levi Strauss continues adjusting its global supply chain to reduce exposure to tariffs and geopolitical risks. The company has diversified sourcing away from China while strengthening manufacturing capabilities across multiple regions to improve operational resilience and maintain stable profit margins.

Industry analysts view Levi Strauss as one of the few apparel companies that has successfully navigated a challenging retail environment by combining brand strength with disciplined operational execution. While many retailers have reported weaker discretionary spending, Levi’s continued investment in premium products, digital retail, and category expansion has allowed it to outperform much of the broader apparel industry.

The company also continues investing heavily in marketing initiatives designed to maintain relevance among younger consumers. Recent global campaigns and strategic brand partnerships have helped reinforce Levi’s image as both a heritage denim brand and a modern fashion label capable of competing across multiple lifestyle categories.

Although investors responded cautiously following the earnings release, the improved annual guidance suggests management remains optimistic about consumer demand through the remainder of 2026. As Levi Strauss continues expanding its premium portfolio and strengthening direct customer relationships, the company appears well positioned to capitalize on evolving fashion trends while navigating an increasingly competitive global retail market.
